K9 Baron
K9 Conservation is excited to welcome our latest pack member!
Baron, formerly known as Max, was owned by an elderly couple in Pietermaritzburg who had him as a pet and guard dog. Unfortunately, the couple found that this high-drive, energetic dog was becoming too much for them to handle and contacted a lady named Lisette Mundell, asking her to assist them in helping them to rehome him. Lisette then contacted Conraad in Hoedspruit in December 2020, knowing that it would be best for the young dog to go to a working home. Unfortunately, the adoption fell through as the family decided to hang onto Baron for a bit longer and Conraad said that if they ever wanted to rehome him, that he would always be welcomed at K9 Conservation.
In April 2021, the family contacted Lisette again, stating that they had rehomed the dog to a trucking yard and that he didn’t seem too happy as he kept escaping. Lisette contacted Conraad again, who agreed once more to take him on, and immediate plans were made to bring Baron home.
Baron was collected and taken to a kennel facility in Drummond, where Kay Sargent looked after him at a reduced cost as he was a rescue. Furkidz Ferry safely transported Baron up to Pretoria on the 3rd of May 2021, where they handed over the leash to Anke Kruger who brought him home to Hoedspruit.
Baron quickly started to show his keen and intelligent personality, always following his nose and mastering every command in record time.
Baron has all the qualities of a dog that would be suitable for working dog training, making it very rewarding to train him for his important function within the company. His personality is friendly, confident and sociable with all other people and animals.
Watch this space to keep up with Baron’s bright future!
