ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Join the K9 Conservation team for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the day-to-day workings of a conservation unit protecting South Africa’s iconic wildlife. Volunteers will shadow field experts, observe the training of working dogs, and engage in a range of eco-conservation activities while gaining first-hand exposure to the complex world of wildlife protection.

This program is ideal for international travelers, students, career seekers, and animal lovers who want to be actively involved in ethical, boots-on-the-ground conservation practices.

  • Shadow experienced conservationists and working dog handlers

  • Learn about anti-poaching K9 selection and training methods

  • Explore the role of detection dogs in conservation and species protection

  • Participate in non-security-related field activities, environmental education, and general base operations

  • Enjoy excursions into the Drakensberg landscape and assist in bioregional maintenance
