Operational Logistics

Crime scene preservation is the most important aspect influencing the success and effectiveness of man-tracking dogs. Minimal scent contamination allows the canines to pick up the scent of the suspect(s) and makes the follow-up process easier. This method of follow-up allows us to determine the entry- and exit points of the crime scene, as well other aspects of crucial evidence, such as the number of people involved, footwear, ammunition and other weapons, etc.

We specialise in intel gathering and working with reputable sources. This allows us to directly infiltrate criminal syndicates, ensuring maximum arrest success and taking illegal firearms out of circulation.

The fight against wildlife crime can not be won alone.

We understand the importance of teamwork and have a good rapport with other units and organisations. By joining forces, we ensure the best chance of wildlife protection.

Unit Deployment

The appointed K9 Unit/s will request an initial site visit and consultation with the managers/staff of the game reserves in order to gain a better understanding of what the needs and specifications of the area in question are. We will then provide different security plan options for the client to choose from. Each unit is self-sufficient and will have its own appointed 2ic who operates directly under a K9 Conservation area manager. This ensures maximum effectiveness in communication and strategy planning.

We provide a call-out/ rapid response action to our clients during emergencies and are on standby 24/7. We mobilize anytime and anywhere when needed.

Our field rangers are fully qualified and trained for their positions and undergo stringent polygraph testing on a regular basis. This includes all of our managers and director.

Canine Units

We make use of three main categories of working dogs; patrol, conservation, and cold scent tracking.

Canines are sourced from reputable breeders and proven working lines. Training is done in-house by our dog trainers. Our K9 trainers travel to the different K9 Units on the various game reserves to continue follow-up training in the working field. This ensures reliable success of the working dogs. The mental and physical well-being of our dogs are of primary importance. Canines are paired with field rangers who are carefully selected and trained as dog handlers.

Our handlers and trainers are highly dedicated, hands-on and continue to network with other trainers and keep up with the latest Scientifics of dog training.

K9 Conservation has assisted in the procurement of working dogs and the training of K9 Units in several countries, namely; Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Central African Republic and India.
